“Back in the day”, your grandfathers heating system was a permanent and foundational part of his home. When heating oil was 10 to 20 cents a gallon that limited criteria made a lot of sense. “Bigger is better”; and “cast iron is stronger” where rallying cries for quality, dependability, and safety. Times have changed and the options today make many of those older systems more appropriate for museums than your home.
Like automobiles it was not until the mid 1980’s when manufacturers where forced to get serious about energy efficiency being a serious part of the design criteria. Home comfort system technology has dramatically advanced in the last 20 years. If the heart of your home comfort system is more than 10 years old consider the possibility of how the world and technology have changed in that time.
There are huge advantages to upgrading in many situations. Our technicians and comfort consultants can give you the facts if you have an older system!
