The Stimulus Package

The stimulus package is big news right now and some of that money may actually trickle down to the average household for improvements they really needed to do anyway.  So far this is what I have been told is coming available in regards to our industry:

Each homeowner has up to $1500 available under this new law to improve the energy efficiency of their home.  An investment in "qualifying" improvements allows a 30% tax credit to a maximum of $1500 over two years.   Qualifying equipment includes 15 SEER air conditioners, 8.5 HSPF split system heat pumps, 14 SEER/8HSPF package heat pumps, 95% AFUE gas/propane furnaces; and 90% AFUE oil furnaces (ask more about my opinion on that!) and a whole lot of other things including certain water heaters.

We have a lot of experience with these kinds of upgrades and this is the kind of thing that the average homeowner can really use professional help on.  In my mind, the exciting news is the rebate you could get every month with a permanently lower utility bill.
