Geothermal Heat PumpsThe federal government gives an energy rebate of 30% for geothermal heat pumps. As far as I know the only other classification that gets this kind of residential subsidy (and is ready for prime time) is solar. Free money for energy upgrades is a constantly changing area and each Go Green energy professional carries a book with the current programs available in our region. I titled this as just "geothermal" because I think a lot of people are not clear on exactly what geothermal heating and cooling is all about.   It's a magical thing in one way and in another way its the most basic thing in the world.  Like most high tech solutions it is a way of efficiently making use of the natural world by taking advantage of existing mechanical know-how and applying it in a new way.
